A computerized information system for organization and supervision of the implementation of incoming orders for the sale and installation of satellite equipment in the company “Eco-Engineering”


Digital television is beginning to make its way to the Bulgarian market as one of the reasons was the increasing amount of information about it. In essence, it means television signal, which is broadcast transmission and reception entirely in digital form. From the moment of its generation to its adoption by the television decoders, it never converts to an analog signal.

HDTV (High Definition Television) is a digital standard for broadcasting and reception of television channels. It features a high-resolution picture and more specific requirements for the television receivers. The standard was born in 2003, and in the middle of 2014, it began to offer the first receivers that meet the requirements of this technology. Due to the growing number of customers, the number of distributors offering digital tv in Bulgaria is constantly growing, as well as providing the necessary equipment for the broadcast.

What is more, the aim of my essay is to present a computerized information system for organization and supervision of the implementation of incoming orders for the sale and installation of satellite equipment in the company “Eco-Engineering”.

A project of the system

The design of the system is with the longest duration through which the system passes for its implementation. The already developed computer-information system must present the following options:

- To enter correctly the information of the organization of the office workflow based on schedules;
- To bring in the computer-information system all goods and services, offered by the company Eco-tech and the opportunity to upgrade it;
- be able to reflect various orders made by customers of the company, providing information on the various products, quantities, and date of each order;
- to show the information obtained in the processing of various data in the system such as the employee that took most of the orders, the largest customer of the business, the most sought-after and purchase products and other interesting management reports;
- To prepare statements based on the selling information;
- To keep a history of the serviced customers, in order to track problems with the satellite technology and to remove them in a quick manner.

The realization of the objectives of the computer-information system goes through several objectives:

- Selection of the platform used, and all necessary tools to build the system;
- Description of the database – number of tables in the database and their names in the database tables, the definition and description of the tables in the database scheme – detailed description of the each table, the specific fields of the attribute type and the intended use of each of them, as well as links between the tables in the database scheme;
- Description of the forms – a detailed description of how it will look like forms, the names of the shapes, physical parameters of the form;
- Designing the menu for the current computer-information system.

Structure of the database

The construction of the database is quite essential and important process because no matter how you get to the data, the information that is extracted from it will be as good as good is its basis. This process goes through two stages: the logical and its physical building.

The first stage is based on a thorough analysis based on detailed consideration and familiarity with the subject area by defining all the entities, their properties and the relations between them. The database covers nine tables. The first of them is Clients and it contains information about each customer.

- idClients /integer/ – increasing sequence number of type integer, which is the primary key for the table;
- Name /varchar (20)/ – here are entered the names of the client. The length of the field is 20 characters.
- Last_name /varchar(45)/ - here is entered the surname of the client. The length of the field is 45 characters.
- Company /varachar(45)/ - a field in which one enters the name of the company distributor;

The following table is Employees, there are records for the employees in the Office having access rights to the system and the opportunity to work with her. Another table is Order. It also recorded the orders, which are drawn from the system.

Description of the functionality of the information system

The menu is designed so as to be accessible to everyone and to ensure its perfect functionality. Part of the people who will work with it may not have good computer knowledge and precisely for this reason, a complicated menu would hamper them. So one of the goals in the development of the menu is to be done in such a way, so as to cover all the activities in the Office, but at the same time to be easy to use. It is composed of a relatively small number of components. It includes seven components: “Orders”, “Customers”, “Schedules”, “Changes”, “Reports”, “Settings”, “Help” and “Exit”.

The menu “Orders” covers two sub-themes. The first one is “Sales” that opens a form for inventory and storage of the sales made by the customers. The second opens a form “Services” that describes the problems encountered with the satellite equipment regardless of whether the client has purchased from the company's Office.

The next item on the menu is customers. It also gives two options. The first one is “Search” which will open a window allowing us to look at the Personal Identification number and the BULSTAT number. The second one is “Add a client” that opens a screen for adding a new customer base.

The drop-down menu “Schedules” is composed of "information" and "add new entry". In the first case, a form will open, in which the schedule of the data will be presented. In the second case, you will have the opportunity to draw up the schedule for the day of the technicians.

The next drop-down menu is “Change”. In it, we again have two choices “change of product” and “change of service”. The first will open a form with the names and prices of the products and will allow their change and update. The second case is almost the same as the pure difference that it will update the data on the services that are offered. The next item on the menu is “Reference”. This is the most comprehensive fraction in the information system. In the beginning, it will cover a few inline references and they will be increased according to the information that will be needed in connection with the workflow in the office.

The drop-down menu “Settings” will cover “Settings of the system” and “Settings of the user”.

The “Help” item on the menu has two sub-themes “Help” and then “System information”. The first will open a window with the details of working with the system and the second short information about it.

The last drop-down menu “Exit” provides the user with the opportunity to exit the system.
