N2  - Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit dem Musikgenre des Soul, dem US-amerikanischen Civil Rights Movement in den 1960er Jahren und den Verbindungen zwischen diesen beiden. Anfangs wird die theoretische Möglichkeit von politischer wirksamer Musik (und deren Limitationen) begründet. Anschließend wird die Rede von einer „schwarzen Kultur“ gerechtfertigt. Das kurze, aber zentrale Kapitel über das soziale und lebensweltliche Konzept von „Soul“ schlägt eine Brücke zur Beschreibung des politischen Rahmens und der sozialen Funktionsweisen einiger signifikanter Soul-Beispiele. Zuletzt erfolgt ein persönlicher Ausblick auf die Jahre danach und eine Bewertung der verschiedenen Bestrebungen um eine sozial bedeutsame Musik. Diese Arbeit klärt deshalb inwieweit Soul als eine politische Musik angesehen werden kann.   ENGLISH VERION This work deals with soul music, the US-American Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s and the connections between them. Initially, the theoretical foundations of politically influential music (and its limitations) are laid out. The next section legitimizes the notion of “black culture”. The short but central chapter on “soul” as a social concept and concept of every-day-life leads over to a description of the political setting and the social implications of several significant examples of Soul. A personal outlook of the subsequent years and an evaluation of the combined efforts to create social relevant music will end the thesis. Therefore, this work clarifies to which degree Soul can be considered political music.
