Virendra Pal Singh

Virendra Pal Singh, born in Merrut city did his M.Phil and Ph.D. from Meerut University (now CCS University, Meerut) in 1981 and 1989 respectively under Prof. Brij Raj Chauhan. He was engaged in in-depth field studies in rural and urban areas of Meerut region in his early career (UNESCO and ICSSR Projects). He worked as research staff in Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi and National Institute of Rural Development, North Eastern Regional Centre, Guwahati and visited North Eastern states extensively. Later, he joined as Faculty of Sociology at Barkatullah University, Bhopal. He was Professor of Sociology at Assam University Silchar (till 2010) and Professor of Globalization and Development Studies, University of Allahabad, Prayagraj (2010-2021). Currently, he is Chairman of Global Research and Educational Foundation India (GREFI).
